Our Story

Since 1956 the Vancouver Poppy Fund has been supporting the branches of the Royal Canadian Legion in the city of Vancouver with their annual Poppy campaigns. In addition to supplying the iconic red poppies, counter and tagging trays, pins, literature, and other supplies, we also provide organizations, businesses, and individuals with Memorial Wreaths for display or laying at a Cenotaph on Remembrance Day. You can order your wreath here.

Coordinating with the Vancouver School Board

We take pride in our collaboration with the Vancouver School Board to supply poppies for students and staff participating in Remembrance Day assemblies. By fostering a sense of remembrance and gratitude among the younger generation, we ensure that the legacy of our Veterans continues to be honoured and respected.

A Commitment to Support: Dispersing Funds When Donations Pause

At the Vancouver Poppy Fund, our dedication to assisting Veterans and their dependents goes beyond accepting donations. When we are not actively receiving contributions, we are busy dispersing funds to those in need, ensuring that support reaches the individuals who have served our nation. Here's how your trust in us translates into impactful actions:

Medical Support

Your contributions, whether through past donations or ongoing support, enable us to disperse funds for emergency medical and dental care for Veterans facing health challenges.

Educational Assistance

We invest in the future of Veterans and their families by providing bursaries to Veterans and their children. This support facilitates academic pursuits and career development.

Housing Initiatives

The Vancouver Poppy Fund actively contributes to facilities such as the New Chelsea Society Winch House and Veterans Manor providing housing solutions for Veterans in our community.

Canine Companionship

Our commitment extends to programs like the Vancouver Island Compassion Dogs, recognizing the therapeutic benefits of animal companionship for Veterans.

Grocery Cards for Low-Income Veterans

Understanding the diverse needs of our community, the Vancouver Poppy Fund provides grocery cards to low-income Veterans in Vancouver. This initiative ensures that basic necessities, like access to nutritious meals, are met during challenging times.

Supporting Organizations that Make a Difference

In addition to direct assistance, we collaborate with reputable Veterans service organizations to amplify our impact. By contributing to initiatives like the Veterans Transition Network, we extend our reach and provide a network of support for Veterans as they transition to civilian life.
